Tree House

Babdaat, Lebanon

This summer villa is designed as a treehouse in response to the incredibly steep slope of the site. Set among oak and pine nut trees, the house is intended to float above the treetops and touch the ground as little as possible. The house is entered from the top of the site, using the structure as a means of traversing the hillside. The interior living spaces are defined by giant cantilevers which provide dramatic views of the surrounding landscape and mountains beyond, while outdoor terraces and the pool anchor the project to the ground.

Rendered view of the interior space, white walls, double high glass wall on the right, stone wall and stairs in the background.
Rendered view of the stairs, coming down the volumes. A glass wall surrounds the upper part of the stairs volume. Stone floor, metal handrails, white walls.
Rendered view of the section of the slope showing the house in the background. The stairs and platforms are made in light grey stone, the walls are painted white, the roof in terracotta tiles.
Rendered view of the back entrance of the building through the upper part of the slope. The stairs and platforms are made in light grey stone, the walls are painted white, the roof in terracotta tiles.
