A glamorous sophisticated pleasure dome with a laid-back elegance.

– Elle Décor

Perched high above Biscayne Bay, this massive circular duplex penthouse offers a bird’s eye perspective of the Miami coast.  We took elements directly from the surrounding landscape to ground the apartment firmly in this tropical city.

Stairs detail displaying the stainless steel side structure and handrail on top of the light grey floor, light blue shaded glass steps anchored to the steel structure.

Inspired by the dolosse that form the coastal breakwater, we tumbled multiple castings of a single concrete form across the terraces to be used as chairs, tables or planters, depending upon their orientation. Inside, a new stainless steel stair links the double height living room space to the master suite above. The hand-tinted glass stair treads fade from dark blue to clear, mimicking the shoreline below. Curving walls wrapped in wood veneer, marble mosaic tile, and a custom silk wall mural carve out softly shaped rooms that flow one to the next. The carefully curated furnishings include vintage modern pieces, such as the very rare 1949 Montalcini wind-back chair made for his parents' home in Asti, and custom pieces like the lucite and redwood master bed.

Master bedroom corner finished with white fabric panels around the walls, dark wood flooring. Furnished with a glass bed platform attached to a white wood back element containing two nightstands. The bed back surface is made by an irregular shaped stone piece. Black canvas displaying birds hanged on the walls.
