One Fifth Avenue is a prestigious landmark Art Deco tower originally built as an apartment-hotel in 1927. Situated on the 18th and 19th floors, this project combines two apartments via a new central stair and double-height walnut paneled volume. On the 18th floor, small rooms now flow into each other like an interior landscape, creating a fifty foot long space for entertaining with expansive views to the north, and a grand master suite to the south. The floor above is anchored by a central living space that surrounds the stair, and is flanked by modern white bedrooms. The simple palette of walnut, white lacquer, and patinated bronze repeats throughout. The furniture is largely contemporary with a casual air that reflects the tastes and needs of the young owners and their two sons.
